Heartland Poker Tour Arizona

The Mid West got a stop from the Heartland Poker Tour as the poker series descended on Arizona for the first time. The latest HPT champ that was crowned comes, appropriately, from Arizona, as did five other final table finishers. 53 year old Andreas Foulias from Gilbert took the championship and nearly $60k when he won the No Limit Texas Holdem poker event. Fouilas was no stranger to winning, with a victory at the Arizona Poker Championship held in August. What is the latest poker champ going to do with his winnings? First, a car, then “nothing but fun stuff.”

Free Poker Network to Send 21 Players to the 2008 World Series of …

December 22nd, 2007 by lisa

Source: PR.com (press release) ()

Fargo, ND, November 29, 2007 –(PR.com)– The Free Poker Network announced the details of its latest poker league contest to send a total of 21 amateur poker players to Las Vegas to compete in a 2008 World Series of Poker event.

“This is our biggest contest yet and is a reflection of the popularity of poker in mainstream America,” according to league founder Brook Lyter.

Now more players than ever before will qualify for a seat in the world’s richest tournament by playing at their hometown bar & grill - for free.

“The best part is seeing an amateur poker player’s dream come true, getting a shot at the big time. It’s an exciting experience.” Lyter understands that dream better than most, having placed runner up in a World Poker Tour event in 2006.

Similar to pool & dart leagues, poker leagues have become increasingly popular as a form of entertainment to drive in traffic for bars. Participants compete in weekly Texas Holdem tournaments for points and there is never an entry fee for the tournaments.

The Free Poker Network poker leagues are currently hosted at 240 bars across the upper Midwest with well over 10,000 active players.

The contest, nicknamed “Destination Las Vegas - 21 Seats,” awards twenty regional prize packages including entry to a $1,500 buy-in event at the 2008 World Series of Poker, plus airfare and hotel accommodations to Las Vegas. The overall champion will receive entry to the $10,000 buy-in Main Event and an opportunity to win millions. Amateur player Jerry Yang from California won $8,250,000 in last year’s Main Event.

The Free Poker Network, Inc is a marketing and promotions company based in Fargo, North Dakota. The league began in 2005 and has expanded steadily to the largest poker league of its kind in the country. The new contest is part of a nationwide expansion campaign.

Orlando Holdem Poker League

In Orlando, Florida, players are testing their skills at poker every night of the week, playing for points and a shot at a seat in the World Series of Poker, and they never have to risk a dime. They are playing in an amateur poker league called Orlando Holdem, which arranges with the owners of various bars and restaurants to host a night of Texas Holdem tournament poker. The outfit provides the tables, chips, cards and dealers, and the organization. Regular players often follow the dealers and tables from venue to venue, attempting to rack up enough wins to play in the big event at the end of the year, with the of that getting a seat into the 2008 WSOP.

Vega Provides Additional Information on LAPT

December 18th, 2007 by lisa

Source: PR Newswire (press release) ()

LONDON, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — VEGA PROMOTIONAL SYSTEMS,
INC. (Pink Sheets: VGPM.PK) today expanded on last week’s announcement that
it is launching the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT).

The plan for the inaugural LAPT 2008 season includes tournaments in
eight Latin American countries, including Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia,
Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica, with a season
ending Tournament of Champions to crown the number one poker player in
Latin America.

In order to maximize the profit potential of the Tour, Vega will be the
Executive Producer of the programming and is currently negotiating with
various professional poker players to become the host for the Tour during
its 2008 inaugural season. Vega plans to own 100% of the programming and is
currently negotiating for airtime with various cable providers that would
allow the Company to profit from selling advertising for the programs. A
successful season for the LAPT could provide millions of dollars in income
for Vega.

The tournaments will be structured as invitational events with players
from all over the world able to win seats via online and live local
satellite tournaments.

Michael Herron, CEO of Vega stated, “This is a very exciting
announcement. No Limit, Texas Holdem’ has really taken off in Latin America
and we felt the time was right for this type of Tour. We’ve all seen the
success that other Tours like the World Poker Tour and European Poker Tour
have enjoyed and we feel that by utilizing our existing contacts in Latin
America, we can produce a first class tournament that players from all over
the world not just from Latin America, will want to participate in. Unlike
a lot of poker programming you see on television, we are not attempting to
sell the rights to a programmer, we will own the programming and plan to
contract for the necessary time slots air the one-hour shows. This will
allow Vega to profit from the advertising, sponsorships, and replays …

Search Specific Back Friendly Poker Tournament

There are many kinds of themed poker tournaments these days due to the popularity of Texas Holdem. Holding a poker event for charity has become a bit ubiquitous, and events designed to raise awareness are not far behind. How about an event that not only specifically references Chiropractors, but even more search engine optimization techniques for Chiropractors? Such is the case for the Purposeinc 2007 SEO Texas Holdem Charity Poker Tournament, which will be held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada tomorrow. The event was put together by a company that specializes SEO techniques for Chiropractors.
